Atlanta Sports Hall of Fame Class of 2012

ATLANTA, GA – August 2, 2011 – The Atlanta Sports Hall of Fame Issues “Call for Nominations” for its Class of 2012.

The Atlanta Sports Hall of Fame is seeking nominations for its 2012 class. Nominations must be in writing and be received by September 19, 2011. For eligibility requirements, nomination forms and an overview of the selection process, click here.

The class of 2012 for Atlanta Sports Hall of Fame inductees will be inducted in June 2012. They will join the 38 members already in the Atlanta Sports Hall of Fame.

The induction ceremony, which is open to the public, will include a reception, silent auction, raffle, and will conclude with the induction of the class of 2012. Proceeds from the induction ceremony will benefit the Hall of Fame youth education programs.

The Atlanta Sports Hall of Fame was organized in 2002 to honor Atlanta sports heroes, remember great moments in Atlanta sports history, and preserve the past from which future generations can learn and take pride.

2012 Nominations Outline

Nominations Start Date for Class of 2012: August 2, 2011

Nominations Deadline Date for Class of 2012: Must be received by September 19, 2011

To Submit A Nomination: Must be in writing on ASHOF Nomination Form (with supporting documentation)

Basic Requirements for Atlanta Sports Hall of Fame Class of 2012:

1). Developed or highlighted skills in the Greater Atlanta Area (the 28 counties as defined by the
census bureau’s Metropolitan Statistical Area for Atlanta) for at least four years………AND……

2). Active in their sport for at least 20 years or retired from their sport for at least 3 years.

Overview of Voting Process: A three step review, discussion, & voting process. Final vote by
Atlanta Sports Hall of Fame Honors Court (scheduled to be completed by mid November 2011)

Induction for Class of 2012: Will be held in early June 2012 (location TBD)

Number of Inductees: Will be no more than four inductees for the Class of 2012
